JLL's offices at Castellana 79 are awarded LEED Platinum Certification

JLL, a financial and professional services firm specialising in the real estate sector, has secured LEED Platinum Certification - the highest rating possible - , in the Commercial Interiors category for its corporate headquarters located at Paseo de la Castellana 79, in the heart of Madrid's financial district.
 
This is the eighth out of JLL’s 280 corporate offices worldwide to obtain this certification, alongside the facilities located in Philadelphia and San Diego in the US, Mumbai in India, Taipei in Taiwan, Hong Kong in China, Berlin in Germany, and Warsaw in Poland. Leadership in Energy Environmental Design (LEED) is a voluntary certification system for sustainable buildings developed by the US Green Building Council, which provides independent verification for buildings designed and built following strategies aimed at obtaining highly efficient assets in terms of water and energy use, atmospheric emissions, materials and resources, sustainability and indoor environmental quality. 
 
The sustainable design of JLL's offices has generated savings of around 20% in electricity and water use, thanks to the optimisation of air conditioning and internal lighting systems, the installation of low-power regulators and the use of energy-saving lighting.

Other factors that were taken into consideration when awarding the certification include the use of recyclable materials, lighting and ventilation control systems, a waste management system and an efficiently designed space. The building has been home to JLL's corporate headquarters since September 2014. The interior was designed by Tétris, JLL's Design and Construction division, which has now seen its work recognised with this prestigious certification.
 

According to Nicasio Gutiérrez, Managing Director of Tétris España: “This certification is the utmost recognition of a very special project for the firm, namely the design of what is now our new "home". The priority was always to design a smart, sustainable work space which would be welcoming for our employees, as well as to showcase JLL's capabilities in this field to our clients”.

Novo Interior has an international retailer clientele and a highly regarded 15-year track record which fits neatly with growth plans for Tétris in the retail property design and fit-out sector across Europe, as well as complementing JLL’s broader EMEA Retail real estate services offer.

Novo Interior’s strong reputation and extensive experience – the company is particularly known for luxury retail space fit-outs – provides an ideal match alongside the existing Tétris capabilities in Portugal which are primarily focused on the office sector, while also expanding into hotel, logistics and industrial projects.

On Wednesday 12th and Thursday 13th November, Tétris UK hosted the first International Tétris Design Conference. We are thrilled to be welcoming our colleagues from across Europe and beyond as we gather to share ideas, discuss the latest design trends in workplace design and consider the best possible ways to implement this into our schemes. A special thank you to Claudia Hamm (Regional Director Workplace Strategy – EMEA Corporate Solutions) for her presentation on “Designing Great Places for the Future of Work”.
